Where it is
A thumb's width above the wrist crease, between the bony bump of the wrist and the pulse.
Anatomically: Forearm, 1 cun up from the wrist crease (palm side), between the radial artery and the styloid process of the radius.

The name
This is the River point. It lies just beside the pulse at the wrist, where blood runs like water in a canal.
